The Watch Window (Aankhi-Jhyal)

By Nirvik Jung Rayamajhee

This window is tiny

but through this,

you can peep out onto an entire world.

All the bigger doors of the house

have been fastened tight with latches of ego

The glass panes of the art engraved windows

have been veiled behind drawn blinds

The house has been locked all around,

the view has been blocked.

Yet, the guest who arrives in the evening

could easily be seen through it

The first beam of the morning sun

could be touched while still in bed.

Ah, through this window,

I wish even amidst fear

I could peep out onto the world.

During any season,

I could gaze at the sky.

I wish there was

a tiny window like this even in your heart.
